Get into Golf

We are very excited about our first Get into Golf programme which starts in April 2022.  This programme is exclusively for LADIES who have never golfed but are keen to learn to play and those who haven’t played golf for a while and are looking for an opportunity to get back into the game.

So, what is Get into Golf all about?

The programme includes:

  • 6 x 1 hour coaching sessions with Ian Robertson, professional golfer based at Troon Links, each followed by the chance to chat over coffee and cake in the clubhouse
  • If you don’t have your own golf clubs don’t worry – we have a supply of used clubs and other equipment which you will be able to access for use at coaching sessions
  • Guidance sessions on the rules of golf and golf etiquette
  • Access to play on 4 of South Ayrshire’s golf courses from April to October
  • Post coaching, the opportunity to join Troon Welbeck Golf Club for a trial 3 month period with mentoring and support and opportunities to improve your golf. You will also be able to participate in any social events held in the clubhouse.  In time the opportunity to become a full Troon Welbeck member with support on getting your golf handicap and playing in our weekly competitions – which are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • We have a team of Golf Buddies to support you with coaching and playing, eg playing with you on the Fullarton Course at Troon Links to help you improve your golf play and knowledge.

What will it cost me?

You will need to take out a Get into Golf ticket with South Ayrshire.  This allows you to play for 7 months, from April to September, on the Fullarton Course at Troon Links – and in addition you can play Seafield, Dalmilling and Maybole Courses.  The cost is £131 or £98 for those in the Access to Leisure categories.

The first 4 coaching sessions are free as part of the South Ayrshire Get into Golf Ticket.  The following 2 sessions will cost £5 each.

At the end of the coaching period you will be able to join Troon Welbeck golf Club for a 3 month trial period – for only £30. This will allow you to use the club facilities, including our bar and catering services.  More significantly, during this period you will have opportunities to play with more experienced club members – our Golf Buddies – to develop your golf skills and knowledge.

You will also be supported to get your golf handicap.

What do I do next?

Come along to our informal open meeting on Sunday 10 April 2022 at 2.30pm in the Troon Welbeck Club House – you’ll even get to experience some fun golf and meet some of our members and Golf Buddies.  You can drop an email to our Lady Secretary Elsie Mundell to let us know if you want.
